At Craigellachie, British Columbia, on Nov. 7, 1885, Lord Strathcona drove the Canadian Pacific Railway’s final spike, completing what for two decades was the only practical means of transporting Canadian passengers from coast to coast. This 12-day trip from Calgary to Vancouver will introduce you to the Canadian Rockies.

Step aboard the Rocky Mountaineer to discover firsthand how Canada as it is known today could not have been without this massive marvel of engineering.

Highlights

• Ascend Sulphur Mountain in a glass-enclosed gondola for spectacular, 360-degree views of the Rockies.

• Explore the Columbia Icefield, an impressive geological phenomenon that feeds eight major glaciers.

• Travel the Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper to Vancouver to relive European expansion into the Canadian West.
